Join us on May 1st for a special Picture Book Salon with award winning author Joyce Sidman! Joyce will talk about and show dummies from her last two picture books about shapes in nature, Swirl by Swirl and Round. Then we will look at the origins of Before Morning and do some writing ourselves, in the form of invocation poems.
Joyce Sidman’s books have won a Newbery Honor (Dark Emperor and Other Poems of the Night), and two Caldecott Honors (Song of the Water Boatman and Red Sings from Treetops). In 2013, she received the NCTE Award for Excellence in Children’s Poetry for her body of work. When not roaming the woods of Wayzata with her dog Watson, she teaches poetry writing in schools.
Save the date: Our next Salon will meet on May 1st.
