About Molly Beth Griffin

Molly Beth GriffinI am a graduate of Hamline University’s MFA program in Writing for Children and Young Adults, and a writing teacher at the Loft Literary Center in the Twin Cities.

A Minnesota native, I now live in South Minneapolis with my partner and our two kids. I love cooking, reading, and hiking in all kinds of weather.

My first picture book, Loon Baby, came out with Houghton Mifflin (2011), and my first Young Adult novel, Silhouette of a Sparrow, came out with Milkweed Editions in September of 2012.  Rhoda’s Rock Hunt came out with the Minnesota Historical Society Press in 2014.  I released two poetry chapbooks with Finishing Line Press in 2018: Under Our Feet and All the Hollow Places. In 2019 I will debut my first series of beginning readers, School Sidekicks, with Capstone. Four of those books are out in January of 2019, and four more in August. I am working on lots of picture book projects and a new YA novel, and will have new picture books out in 2020 and 2021.

Though my writing reaches across all age groups and genres, it all demonstrates my passion for exploring young people’s changing relationship to the natural world and to the world of books.
