About Molly Beth Griffin

Molly Beth GriffinI am a graduate of Hamline University’s MFA program in Writing for Children and Young Adults, and a writing teacher at the Loft Literary Center in the Twin Cities.

A Minnesota native, I now live in South Minneapolis with my partner and our two kids. I love cooking, reading, and hiking in all kinds of weather.

My picture books include Loon Baby (HMH 2011), Rhoda’s Rock Hunt (Minnesota Historical Society Press 2014), and the forthcoming titles Ten Beautiful Things (Charlesbridge 2021) and The Big Leaf Leap (Minnesota Historical Society Press 2021). I have also published one YA novel Silhouette of a Sparrow (Milkweed Editions 2012), two poetry chapbooks Under Our Feet and All the Hollow Places (Finishing Line Press 2018), and a series of eight beginning readers, School Sidekicks (Capstone 2019). I have been awarded two Minnesota State Arts Board grants and a McKnight Fellowship.

Though my writing reaches across all age groups and genres, it all demonstrates my passion for exploring young people’s changing relationship to the natural world and to the world of books.
